The Secret Life of a Weight-Obsessed Woman by Iris Ruth Pastor

About The Secret Life of a Weight Obsessed Woman

(Blurb from Amazon.com)

Do you think about food too much? Envy those "skinny bitches" and wonder how they do it? Use the needle on the scale as a measure of your self-worth? Are you "just ten pounds" away from happiness? You are not alone. Iris Ruth Pastor, too, was a weight-obsessed woman who found a way to eat all those tempting goodies--without putting on a pound. At age eighteen, she began bingeing and purging daily and didn't stop for forty-six years. How did she tame the triggers that led to bingeing and purging? Deal with the ravenous monster within? The Secret Life of a Weight-Obsessed Woman is Iris's story of ripping down the faCade of her "perfect" life and taking steps to break free of her lover ED (Eating Disorder, not Erectile Dysfunction!).

Review of The Secret Life of a Weight Obsessed Woman

This book touched me. I don't have bulimia myself, but this book is all encompassing. If you've ever had a problem with any addiction, emotional problems, weight problems or know someone that does, this book will touch you too. As a professional lifestyle columnist, Iris has the writing experience to express her personal journey in a way you can both relate to and empathize with. You can delve with her into her life as an author, wife, mother and grandmother, all while she struggles recovery from a true lifetime of bulimia. Her struggle with recovery is both heart breaking and inspiring. A truly engaging book.
